The programme will help you overcome the common challenges that you face when you retire from sports, such as finding a new sense of purpose, adjusting to a new identity, developing new skills, finding a suitable job or building a business and navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship. You will learn how to leverage your strengths, passions, and experiences as an athlete to create a fulfilling and rewarding post-athletic career.”

 Although based in Galway, Ireland, our clients come to us from across the globe – as some of our coaching has been done by phone and more recently through Zoom and other media.

Clients include high level achievers in sport and business - Confidential service provided. 

It should be noted that the Programme can be adapted or adjusted depending on the individual needs of the Client.

 

  1. Scheduling a discovery callThis is an opportunity to get to know the client better, understand their post-athletic career ideas, assess their current situation and readiness for change, and create a plan to move forward.

  2. Creating a learning agenda. This is a personal inventory of skills, strengths, and weaknesses that the client has or needs to develop for their desired career path. Use will be made of various tools and assessments to help the client identify their core values, personality traits, interests, transferable skills, and knowledge gaps.

  3. Designing a learning plan. This is a roadmap that outlines the specific actions, resources, and timelines that the client will follow to achieve their learning goals. Help will be given to the client to select the best learning methods and sources for their needs, such as online courses, books, podcasts, mentors, networking events, etc.

  4. Implementing the learning plan. This is where the client puts their learning into practice and applies what they have learned to their new career context. Support will be given to the client by providing feedback, encouragement, accountability, and troubleshooting along the way.

  5. Evaluating the learning outcomesThis is where the client and Coach will review the progress and results of the learning plan, celebrate the achievements, identify the challenges and areas for improvement, and adjust the plan as needed

Matching the skills and strengths of the client to a job or career is a process that involves identifying their interests, values, personality, and abilities, and comparing them with the requirements and expectations of different occupations. Various tools and methods are used to help the client with this process, such as:

  • Taking a complete skills assessment. This can help uncover the client’s skills and how they relate to different jobs. Use will be made of online tests, self-evaluation questionnaires, or portfolio reviews to measure your client’s skills.

  • Conducting informational interviews. This can help the Client in gathering information about different careers and industries from people who work in them. Support will be given to the client to prepare a list of questions to ask, such as what skills are needed, what are the challenges and opportunities, what are the typical tasks and responsibilities, etc1.

  • Searching by skill. Finding jobs that match the client’s skills using online databases, job boards, or career websites. Help will be given to the client to narrow down their options by filtering by location, industry, salary, education level, etc.

  • Researching your industry. This can help the Client and the Coach understand the trends, demands, and expectations of the industry the client is interested in. Use will be made of online sources, publications, reports, or professional associations to stay updated on the latest developments and opportunities.

Once the Client has identified a job or career that matches their skills and strengths, the Coach will help them achieve success by following these actions:

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The programme consists of six sessions, each lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes. The sessions are structured on the following models of Coaching - GROW Model, Appreciate Enquiry and SOAR Model. The Tools used will include a range of psychological and behavioural assessments if considered necessary.

On completion of Programme:

  • The Client will be requested to complete a post-assessment or feedback survey that helps measure the client’s satisfaction, outcomes, and learning for future programmes.

  • A follow-up or support session will be arranged FREE OF CHARGE by the Coach with the client after a certain period of time and provide additional mentoring/guidance or resources if needed.
